The very first Battle of the Tech Bands was born in Brisbane at the Black Bear Lodge in Fortitude Valley. Inspired by Melbourne's long-running "Battle of the Agile Bands" competition, four bands from Brisbane's tech scene took the stage in front of more than 200 people. Rex Software, Jumbo Interactive, FoundU, and a combo band from TeachStarter and Caterpillar all competed, raising over $2,000 for the Ukrainian Crisis Appeal. When the bar staff cast their votes, Jumbo Band emerged victorious, kicking off what would become an annual tradition in Brisbane's tech community.
